SSD is a suburban school district with 13 schools. For the 2026-2027 school year, classes begin August 27 and end June 9. Southington Public Schools operates eleven school buildings across the district, including two middle schools and seven elementary schools, all listed with individual phone numbers and hours directly on the adopted calendar. The calendar also notes several religious observances (Rosh Hashanah – Special Observation Day, Yom Kippur – Special Observation Day, Sukkot – Special Observation Day, Diwali – Special Observation Day, Three Kings Day – Special Observation Day, Ramadan Begins – Special Observation Day, Eid al Fitr – Special Observation Day, Holi – Special Observation Day, Passover – Special Observation Day) for awareness — school stays in session on these days. This calendar includes 16 early-release or half days — useful to know when planning childcare. The last day of school is tentatively set for June 9, but may move if the district needs to use weather makeup days.
