MCSD is a local school district with 14 schools. For the 2026-2027 school year, classes begin August 6 and end May 20. McCracken County High School, opened in 2013 after a county-wide consolidation vote, was originally organized into a rare house system — a structure common in Commonwealth countries but unusual for US public schools. The calendar sets aside 5 additional days (March 12–May 27) that may be used as weather makeup days if needed. This calendar includes 4 professional development days, 1 early-release or half day — useful to know when planning childcare.
