SPS is a suburban school district with 11 schools. For the 2026-2027 school year, classes begin September 2 and end June 16. Somerville Public Schools serves students from Pre-K through grade 12 and publishes its official calendar in four languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Haitian Creole. The calendar also notes several religious observances (Rosh Hashanah*, Yom Kippur*, Diwali, Hanukkah* 12/4 - 12/12, Christmas 12/25, Kwanzaa 12/26 - 1/1, Three Kings Day, Lunar New Year, Ramadan* begins, Ramadan ends, Eid al-Fitr*, Holi, Easter, Passover*, Eid al-Adha*) for awareness — school stays in session on these days.
