WFSD is a suburban school district with 9 schools. The first day of school is September 3. William Floyd was a Long Island native and signer of the Declaration of Independence, and the district bearing his name serves the Mastics-Moriches-Shirley community on the south shore of Long Island. The calendar also notes several religious observances (Yom Kippur, Eid al Fitr, Eid al Adha) for awareness — school stays in session on these days. This calendar includes 1 early-release or half day — useful to know when planning childcare. Standardized testing windows: Regents Examinations (June 16–June 25).
