UCSD is an urban school district with 13 schools. For the 2026-2027 school year, classes begin September 2 and end June 25. Thomas R. Proctor High School, the district's only high school, opened its doors on September 9, 1936, and was built with funds from the Works Progress Administration. The district has said a complete 2026-2027 calendar — including early dismissal dates and teacher workdays — will be published soon. This calendar includes 2 early-release or half days — useful to know when planning childcare.
