OCS is an urban school district with 40 schools. For the 2026-2027 school year, classes begin August 24 and end June 4. Onslow County Schools serves a notably high share of military-connected families, given its location adjacent to Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune and MCAS New River — two of the largest Marine installations in the world. This calendar includes 6 professional development days, 6 early-release or half days — useful to know when planning childcare.
