NCLSD is a suburban school district with 14 schools. For the 2026-2027 school year, classes begin August 20 and end May 27. Newark City School District was established on July 20, 1848, making it one of Ohio's oldest unified school systems, formed after a voter petition to consolidate Newark's schools under one system. The last day of school is weather-contingent, ranging from May 27 to May 28 depending on how many built-in weather makeup days are used.
