CASD is an urban school district with 17 schools. For the 2026-2027 school year, classes begin August 19 and end June 1. Chambersburg Area School District's NJROTC program earned a 14th-place national ranking out of 637 programs nationwide, making it the only Pennsylvania school invited to the Navy Nationals drill championship. The calendar sets aside 3 additional days (June 2–June 4) that may be used as weather makeup days if needed. This calendar includes 3 early-release or half days — useful to know when planning childcare. Standardized testing windows: Standardized Testing Window (January 4–January 15); Standardized Testing Window (April 26–April 30); Standardized Testing Window (May 17–May 28); Standardized Testing Window (May 3–May 7). The last day of school is tentatively set for June 1, but may move if the district needs to use weather makeup days.
