PGH is an urban school district with 56 schools. For the 2026-2027 school year, classes begin August 24 and end June 3. The calendar also notes several religious observances (Yom Kippur, Eid al-Fitr) for awareness — school stays in session on these days. This calendar includes 2 professional development days, 9 early-release or half days — useful to know when planning childcare. Standardized testing windows: PSSAs ELA Testing Window (April 26–April 30); PSSAs Math, Science & Make-Ups Testing Window (May 3–May 7); PSSAs Math, Science & Make-Ups (Optional) (May 10–May 14); Spring Keystone Exams Testing Window (May 17–May 28); Winter Keystone Exams Testing Window (January 4–January 15).
