OSD is a rural school district with 17 schools. For the 2026-2027 school year, classes begin August 3 and end May 25. The School District of Oconee County operates a 'year-round modified' calendar specifically designed to complete the first semester before Christmas while keeping June and July as a traditional summer break. This district follows a modified calendar for the 2026-2027 year, which starts and ends on a different schedule than a traditional calendar. This calendar includes 2 professional development days — useful to know when planning childcare.
