FISD is a suburban school district with 7 schools. The first day of school is August 18. Friendswood ISD was established in 1939 and serves approximately 6,210 students across six campuses in the Galveston County portion of Friendswood, Texas. The district has said a complete 2026-2027 calendar — including early dismissal dates and teacher workdays — will be published soon. The calendar sets aside 2 additional days (January 4–April 26) that may be used as weather makeup days if needed. This calendar includes 4 professional development days, 3 early-release or half days — useful to know when planning childcare.
