JISD is a local school district with 8 schools. The first day of school is August 12. Jacksonville ISD's historic Tomato Bowl stadium — one of the last remaining downtown high school stadiums in Texas — was voted the Best High School Stadium in Texas by Dave Campbell's Football in 2025. The district has said a complete 2026-2027 calendar — including early dismissal dates and teacher workdays — will be published soon.
