TISD is an urban school district with 17 schools. For the 2026-2027 school year, classes begin August 13 and end May 26. Temple ISD's high school mascot is the Wildcats, and Temple High School traces its roots to 1883, making it one of the older public high schools in central Texas. The district has said a complete 2026-2027 calendar — including teacher workdays — will be published soon. This calendar includes 1 early-release or half day — useful to know when planning childcare.
