TSD is an urban school district with 15 schools. For the 2026-2027 school year, classes begin September 2 and end June 3. Tumwater School District serves approximately 6,350 students across 14 schools in Tumwater, Washington, a city whose name derives from a Chinook word meaning 'noisy water,' referring to the nearby Deschutes River falls. The calendar sets aside 2 additional days (May 28–June 14) that may be used as weather makeup days if needed. This calendar includes 7 early-release or half days — useful to know when planning childcare.
